This weeks interview is a discussion with professor Frank Tester about the potentials and pitfalls of Guaranteed Basic Income. We explored the social implications, pros and cons and previous experiments with Guaranteed Minimum Income in Canada and abroad. Frank gives us his opinion on whether it’s a good idea for Canada. The Liberals have recently made an announcement that they are exploring the potentials for implementing Guaranteed Basic Income in Canada.

Frank has spent quite a bit of his time and research interested in social work and the impact of programs like guaranteed income on the lives of poor Canadians. Frank is a very innovative thinker and political activist with some interesting experience in reforming cultures in Africa. He told us a story of how he reclaimed guns used in a civil war, had them turned into a sculptural chair which was then gifted to the Pope!
